FIVE STARS Outstanding! We’ve rented many home over the years and the ones Meredith Lodging offers are at the top. Captain Jack’s was perfect. The home was clean and comfortable. The ocean view is incredible. There is a very short path to access the beach. We’re coming back next year!

Lovely, Restful Getaway This was our 2nd year to stay at Captain Jacks. We love this place. The view of the ocean is stunning. We've seen whales out in the water both years. Beach access is just a short walk away. The house has a spacious open concept with lots of windows, giving great views of the ocean. It's a lovely, clean, cozy, well-equipped house. One of our favorite things to do is lay on the deck at night and star gaze. Wonderful. Because most of the living space is on the main floor, this house allows my elderly parents to join us. It also has plenty of room for our 4 young adult children.

Great Beach House When we go to the coast, we always stay at Captain Jacks. The location is great, the views are out of this world, the house is always spotless, and it just feels "homey". Wifi can be a little iffy at times, but other than that, no problems.

Lovely Home overlooking the beach The house was very clean, no bugs, plenty of nice amenities - DVR, TVs, binoculars, a spotting telescope, kitchen items, washer & dryer, nice views. We were only two guests, so only used one bed/bathroom, but the bed was comfortable, and the shower had very good water pressure and plenty of hot water. The cable TV had a lot of channels, there were quite a few DVDs in the cabinets, as well as puzzles and games. The house is actually on a small cliff, so you can't just walk out on to the beach. Visiting local parks, that appears to be the way things are in that area. Access to the beach is not too far off, although not handicapped-accessible. The beach is well-packed and pretty flat, so it's easy to walk on, and during low tide the water goes waaay out. We saw whales (well, parts of them) from the deck. On a clear night, you can see the milky way and more stars than I have ever seen. Use the binoculars. I would have liked more screens on the windows, and at least one of the door walls, for better air circulation through the house without letting bugs in. The location provides easy access to plenty of parks and scenic points, the aquarium, and restaurants.

Great for kids Captain Jack's was a perfect place for kids. My kids loved the bunk room and were thrilled that there were books and stuffed animals. Despite being a bit outside of Newport the location was fantastic. The beach was just a short walk away and the views were amazing. The decor is a bit outdated but it is a comfortable home for a beachside vacation.
